Team General
Congrats to all students that compete last weekend. It was a bummer that both teams competed on the same day, but thanks to all the parents, mentors and coaches that volunteer, both events were a total success on many points. More details below.
Grants Update
We received the good news! NASA has approved our sponsorship application. This is a second year team growth grants worth $5000.
If you did not know yet, Ford is also a major sponsors with our FRC team fr $3000 and FTC team for $300.
Solidworks Training Opportunity
The Blue Water Area Robotics Alliance in cooperation with BTM Corporation in Marysville will host a Solidworks training series starting on 11/28 at 330pm. The training will be done by BTM Solidworks expert. If you have any interest in learning this tool, this is a great opportunity to get a jump start on modeling our robots.
Solidworks is one of our sponsor, they are providing us with 30 licenses for free. If you have any interest in an engineering career, this skill should be on top of your list to learn… and here it is for free… Please let me know asap before Friday, 6pm as we need to reserve our seats. I will be attending the class and can provide some transportation to and from BTM.
Students should have a laptop with Solidworks installed. I can assist with installing on your pc.
I know this is a long post, but there is a lot of info to share, so please keep reading !!!
FLL IronRats and IronRats2 teams participated in the 2016 ThunderQuest tournament at Henry Ford II High School on Saturday 11.19.16 in Sterling Heights. The day consisted of three separate judging events for FLL Core Values, the Animal Allies Project and Robot Design. Each team also had four rounds of timed robot competition.
One set of judges said that the team meshed very well especially being rookie team.
We had many challenges during the competition, but all our kids remained calm and went to work identifying the problem and presenting solutions; always a team they remained. As a rookie team we identified areas for development and improvement, however one area that shined through out the day was how the team(s) pulled together and exhibited a certain esprit de corps.
To summarize the kids are and should be proud of all they accomplished this season.
Your coaches and parents are so proud of your rookie season IronRats!
